2. Detailed Acknowledgment of Outdoor and Recreational Dangers
I understand that outdoor activities can cause serious injury, permanent disability, paralysis, illness, property loss, or death, including risks that are unforeseeable or arise from the acts or omissions of other people. Without limiting that statement, I specifically acknowledge the following potential dangers: Hunting and firearms: accidental or intentional firearm discharge; ricochets, stray bullets, misfires, defective ammunition or equipment; negligent handling by others; crossfire; muzzle blast and hearing loss; archery projectiles; knives, blades, broadheads, traps and sharp tools; falls from tree stands, blinds, ladders, vehicles or elevated terrain; wounded or charging animals; hunting dogs and livestock; and limited visibility or mistaken identification of targets. Fishing and water: drowning, immersion, currents, undertows, deep or cold water, hypothermia, unstable banks, slippery rocks, submerged objects, changing water levels, flooding, dams, hooks, lures, sinkers, fishing line, fish spines and bites; boats, kayaks, docks, ramps, propellers, capsizing, collision, falling overboard, and lack or failure of personal flotation devices. Terrain, weather and environment: uneven ground, holes, mud, sand, steep slopes, cliffs, falling rocks or trees, low branches, fences, barbed wire, debris, structures, fires and smoke; lightning, wind, tornadoes, extreme heat or cold, sun exposure, dehydration, heat stroke, frostbite, poor air quality, dust, and rapidly changing weather; poisonous plants, insects, ticks, snakes, spiders, wildlife, zoonotic disease, allergic reactions, and infections. Vehicles, equipment and facilities: travel in personal or commercial vehicles, ATVs, UTVs, side-by-sides, tractors, trailers and boats; rollovers, collisions, ejection, mechanical failure, unsafe roads, inexperienced operators, loading and unloading; power tools, machinery, generators, fuel, chemicals, electricity, and equipment malfunction; slips, trips, falls, structural hazards, fire and carbon monoxide in cabins, tents, lodges, or other facilities. Physical exertion and emergency limitations: fatigue, overexertion, preexisting conditions, heart or respiratory events, delayed rescue, remote terrain, poor cellular reception, limited emergency medical care, and transport delays. I understand that safety equipment, instruction, supervision, and reasonable precautions cannot eliminate these risks.
